Ohio State senior defensive tackle Jason Moore has nine tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and half a sack through three games, exceeding his 2025 tackle total. He led Buckeye defensive tackles with 25 snaps in the 59-3 win over Kent State but is not a starter.
John Walker and Eddrick Houston have started all three games, while James Smith remains part of the rotation. Ohio State needs to replace production after losing Kayden McDonald and Tywone Malone Jr.; coach Ryan Day said Moore was getting stronger and becoming more productive.
Moore had three tackles on 27 snaps against Texas, a meaningful early test; Kent State was overmatched, and he still has to prove he can produce against Big Ten offensive lines. A consensus four-star recruit, he played only 46 snaps in 2025. Coach Larry Johnson had projected him as a three-technique tackle; Moore has grown from about 255–260 pounds as a recruit to 316.
