Itron announced Sept. 22 a collaboration with Crytica Security to embed real-time threat detection in smart meters and edge endpoints. Smart meters cannot host traditional endpoint-security software. No deal terms or revenue timeline were disclosed.
In Q2 2026, revenue fell 7% year over year to $563 million, mainly as Networked Solutions revenue dropped 17% amid project timing and lower hardware shipments; net income declined to $53 million from $68 million. Annual recurring revenue rose 21% to $417 million, adjusted gross margin expanded to 41.4%, and Itron raised full-year non-GAAP EPS guidance to $6.30–$6.50.
Crytica’s lightweight probe is described as scanning devices for unauthorized changes to their instructions, detecting them within seconds without affecting performance. The technology would let utilities monitor meters and hosted edge applications through a unified framework.
