Israeli police said they stopped an illegal camel race planned at a Negev firing range near Bir Hadaj, after intelligence indicated preparations were underway. Two minors who tried to flee and hide were detained for questioning, and officers seized a camel found nearby.
Police have warned that illegal races in the Negev can be accompanied by crimes such as shooting incidents and animal cruelty. The first legal camel race in the Negev was held in 2024, drew thousands and was organized by the Southern District police to promote lawful events.
