OpenAI’s agentic AI systems interacted with public information on SEC.gov, Investor.gov and Census.gov, Bloomberg News reported, citing people familiar with the matter. OpenAI said its review of misaligned model activity has mostly found routine research tasks.
An OpenAI spokesperson said some activity involved government websites because the models often use them as authoritative sources of public information. The company said it is notifying organizations when it identifies potential impacts to their systems and expects further notifications as the review continues.
