Al Jazeera's Tehran bureau chief reported that the reopening depends on the U.S. lifting its blockade and that the plan accelerates a previously discussed 60-day process. Demands under discussion include sanctions relief, lifting restrictions on Iranian oil exports and access to frozen funds.
President Masoud Pezeshkian separately said Thursday that Iran wants a deal before November's U.S. midterm elections. A mediator told CBS News the talks were positive but still early; U.S. officials had not confirmed Al Jazeera's report that they had advanced to a technical phase.
