Iowa receiver Tony Diaz, who has 17 catches for 200 yards in his first three games, said the Hawkeyes expect Michigan to play man coverage and called it “candy.” Joel Klatt expects a low-scoring game; kickoff in Ann Arbor is 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
Klatt called the No. 17 Iowa–No. 18 Michigan matchup a “slugfest.” He said Iowa may struggle to create space outside against Michigan's corners, while the Hawkeyes' sound defense and coverage of the middle make the matchup difficult for Michigan's offense.
CBS analyst Charles Davis said Bryce Underwood's game against UTEP the prior week was his best under Michigan's new coaching staff, which he said was using shorter throws to build the quarterback's confidence. An unnamed opposing coach praised the offense's quick passes and motion, but said pressure on Underwood would be key in Big Ten play.
