IonQ says its Superion 256 will be the first on-premise quantum processor deployed at Nvidia’s Accelerated Quantum Research Center, with deployment planned for 2027. The center will support research on hybrid quantum-classical systems.
IonQ also reported a real-time error-correction decoder that ran continuously on one conventional CPU. Tests using benchmark circuits simulating up to 408 logical qubits and more than 31.5 million quantum operations added as little as 0.02% execution time. This tested whether a conventional processor could keep pace with the workload; it did not demonstrate a quantum computer with 408 logical qubits.
IonQ began taking orders for Superion 256 after unveiling it on Sept. 8; first customer deliveries are expected in 2027, and the company targets commercially manufacturable fault-tolerant systems in 2028. Nvidia has not disclosed the deployment’s financial value and is working with multiple quantum companies. IonQ’s 2026 revenue guidance is $450 million to $460 million, including SkyWater revenue from July 31 through year-end, so the forecast increase cannot be attributed entirely to accelerating organic quantum-computing revenue.
