An IndiGo Boeing 787 returned safely to Heathrow on 22 September after a technical issue on its Delhi-bound flight. It turned back about 20 minutes after take-off; IndiGo said passengers were offered hotel accommodation and put on the next available flights.
The airline said the aircraft was undergoing maintenance checks and would resume operations after securing all necessary clearances.
According to The Standard, the flight transmitted emergency squawk code 7700, which alerts air traffic control that a plane needs immediate assistance in a general emergency. The reason for the turnaround was unclear.
