A BuzzFeed writer compared Trader Joe’s Thai Shrimp Gyoza cooked by skillet, steaming and baking, and found the oven batch crispiest, with a tender filling. The writer baked it at 400°F for about 15–18 minutes, calling this method the easiest of the three.
The package-listed pan-fry-steam-fry method took about 10 minutes and gave the gyoza a juicy filling with lightly crisp bottoms. Steaming also took about 10 minutes and required little effort, but the wrappers became very soft and slightly sticky. The writer noted that the preferred texture is subjective.
