Phaedra Cook is seeking a buyer for Houston Food Finder, the food-news outlet she founded in 2016, and says she will close it if no serious buyer comes forward by Nov. 30. She will keep running the site; Cook says it has 42,000 followers across platforms.
Monthly website views fell from a peak of around 20,000 to 8,000 amid changing consumer habits and the rise of social-media video and search algorithms. Cook shifted more publishing to Facebook and Instagram, where engagement increased, while retaining some articles on the site.
Cook hopes a larger company will buy Houston Food Finder and expand it or reproduce its model in other food-focused cities. She is also starting Perfect City Days, a new company centered on finding ways to have a “wonderful day” around the U.S.
