Early Theranos investor Alan Eisenman criticized Elizabeth Holmes’ planned move from prison to a halfway house next year. He and his wife invested about $1.2 million; Holmes owes them nearly $150,000 in restitution, and Eisenman says they have received nothing.
The Justice Department notified Eisenman of Holmes’ expected move. The Bureau of Prisons did not respond to the Daily Beast’s inquiry; a spokesperson has told other outlets that it does not discuss individual release plans. Holmes’ original release date was Feb. 22, 2030, but her sentence has been shortened several times, and her commutation application remains pending.
Holmes was found guilty of three counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Her total restitution obligation for all victims is $452 million.
