Paramore singer Hayley Williams posted an Instagram Stories tribute to ex-husband Chad Gilbert on Wednesday, three days after the New Found Glory guitarist died of brain cancer at 45. She said their time together taught her a lot and thanked him for his influence.
Williams said Gilbert introduced her to people, music and culture that still influence her, and that their relationship deepened her understanding of and respect for hardcore. The musicians were together for a decade, married in 2016 and divorced the following year.
Gilbert’s wife, Lisa Cimorelli, said he died surrounded by friends and family, with her and his mother by his side as he wished. She described his love as “superhuman” and vowed to preserve his legacy. He is survived by Cimorelli, their 5-year-old daughter, his mother and his brother.
