Kevin Harvick said Ryan Preece and Josh Berry’s post-race remarks to Carson Hocevar at Bristol would not change anything; he said Hocevar’s respect had to be earned on track. Berry said he had no beef with Hocevar and was egging on the exchange.
The post-race exchange followed a pit-road fight between Hocevar and Ryan Blaney, after Hocevar’s car sent Blaney into the wall with 43 laps remaining. NASCAR said it would not penalize either driver.
Harvick said drivers seeking Hocevar’s respect would have to wreck him. Berry said the episode was made into a bigger deal than it was; Preece, discussing it on Door Bumper Clear, recalled asking Hocevar whether his car insurance knew what he did for a living.
