After coach Ben Johnson offered no update on Kyler Gordon's return, Harrison Graham of Chicago Bears Now urged Chicago to trade the cornerback if a buyer can be found. Gordon is out with a calf injury and began a three-year, $40 million contract in 2026.
On Sept. 8, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that sources saw “some optimism” and that the plan was for Gordon to return a few weeks into the season and begin practicing soon afterward. Gordon missed all but three games last season because of soft-tissue problems; Bears GM Ryan Poles and Johnson have publicly voiced frustration over his continued absence.
Graham said he did not know whether a team would trade for Gordon; the article assessed Chicago might receive no more than a mid-to-late Day 3 draft pick. The secondary is also depleted: safety Coby Bryant is out for the season, and starting cornerback Tyrique Stevenson is week to week with a hamstring strain.
