Rilo Kiley will replace Alison Krauss at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass after Krauss became unable to perform because of a medical condition, the festival said Tuesday. The Oct. 2-4 event will also honor Dolly Parton, with at least 15 acts agreeing to cover her songs.
Fronted by festival alum Jenny Lewis, Rilo Kiley formed in the late 1990s and stopped making new music and touring in 2010. The band is best known for “Silver Lining” and “Portions for Foxes.”
The festival is scheduled across six stages in Golden Gate Park and admission is free, funded by an endowment from founder Warren Hellman.
