Rotten Tomatoes’ critics’ score for Robert Pattinson’s “Primetime” fell from 93% on 14 reviews to 86% on 155 by Friday evening. Chris Hansen called the film detached from reality in his first X video review and said his full review would be on his podcast Friday night.
Primetime revisits NBC’s To Catch a Predator, which used hidden cameras to record suspected child predators meeting child decoys at their homes before Hansen confronted them and police took the suspects into custody. The program aired from 2004 to 2007; NBC canceled it in 2008 after a suspect died by suicide as police were about to serve a warrant.
Rotten Tomatoes’ critics’ consensus says the film examines the program’s journalistic legacy and the boundary between justice and lurid spectacle. Its Popcornmeter score was 82% based on more than 250 verified user ratings; the site’s Audience Summary was still pending.
