After her arrest at a protest against Benjamin Netanyahu’s U.N. appearance, Hannah Einbinder urged followers to focus on what she called Israel’s “genocidal war” against people in Palestine and Southern Lebanon. The New York Times reported about 100 protesters were arrested.
On Instagram, Einbinder said images of protesters being arrested should draw attention to settler attacks, home demolitions and people being bombed as they sleep, which she said receive almost no international press coverage. She accused the U.S. government and both Republicans and Democrats of enabling and protecting Netanyahu.
At the U.N. General Assembly in New York, Netanyahu called the demonstrators “phony human rights protestors” and asked where they were when Iranian security forces killed thousands in January. He asked whether they had organized rallies or hunger strikes, or protested outside Iran’s U.N. mission.
