After Week 4, Yahoo Sports places Georgia, Texas and Alabama in the SEC’s top tier, with Georgia out front after beating Oklahoma 41-13. It sees Florida rising after a 52-28 win over Ole Miss; Ole Miss, LSU and Tennessee each have a conference loss.
Alabama routed South Carolina 49-18 as quarterback Keelon Russell threw for 365 yards and four touchdowns; the Tide host Georgia in two weeks. Texas edged Tennessee 20-17 after the Volunteers converted an onside kick whose legality was uncertain. Georgia and Texas do not meet in the regular season, but could face off for the SEC title. Florida running back Jadan Baugh has 11 rushing touchdowns, and the Gators face Georgia and Texas in October.
Outside the SEC, Yahoo Sports calls Boise State the clear favorite for the Group of Six playoff berth after a 32-7 win over Western Michigan, while Wisconsin beat No. 13 Penn State 24-20. It says Boise could reach the playoff with two losses if the American Conference does not produce a dominant team. Colorado lost 23-13 to Baylor, and Maryland fell 54-3 to UCLA.
