Only 15% of Colts fans are confident Indianapolis is headed in the right direction, according to a Stampede Blue survey, after the team opened 0-2. The Colts host the also-winless Texans next after allowing 500-plus offensive yards in each of their first two games.
Through two games, Indianapolis is tied for 10th in scoring at 26.5 points per game but ranks 32nd in defense, allowing 37 points per game. Both the Colts’ passing and run defenses have struggled.
The report says new starting defensive end Arden Key has struggled against the run, the linebackers have struggled as a group, and opposing passers are targeting debuting slot corner Justin Walley. It also says the Colts need more pass rush. General manager Chris Ballard and coach Shane Steichen entered the season under pressure, which has intensified, while ownership had already said the sense of urgency was high.
