The Penguins trimmed nine players from training camp: six were assigned to the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre team, goalie Taylor Gauthier was placed on waivers for an assignment there, and Tomas Galvas was loaned to his Czech team for the season.
Galvas, a 20-year-old 2026 second-round pick, could be recalled to Wilkes-Barre in the spring, depending on how things go.
The writer counted 59 players still in camp. Another exhibition was scheduled for the following night, with more cuts expected as the Penguins worked toward the 23-player limit before the season starts next Wednesday.
