Yoav Gallant said Israel received a Hamas message through a Shin Bet channel before the Oct. 7, 2023, attack; Yahya Sinwar warned he would “shake the prisons.” He also alleged Netanyahu kept him uninformed about wartime US talks on hostages and ammunition.
Gallant said American officials later called him to verify what Netanyahu had told them. He said their trust in the prime minister was low.
Gallant said that, while defense minister, he had not been told of reports that foreign leaders warned Netanyahu before the attack and first heard of them in media reports. He said that if such warnings were true, they would reflect what he called a “fundamental failure in the overall assessment of the situation,” not a political asset.
