A Congolese army plane crashed in Kenge, Kwango province, on Friday, killing 14 people, including civilians and senior military officials. It developed a technical fault while flying from Kikwit to Kinshasa and attempted to land in Kenge.
Deputy governor Remy Saki Bokinda said Kenge had no landing strip and the plane crashed into a residential plot. Military spokesperson Major-General Efomi Ekenge said all those on board died; 12 were burned beyond recognition, and the pilot was found dead outside the aircraft. Ekenge said an investigation has been opened to determine the cause.
