Texas beat Minnesota 6-2 in a rain-delayed game Saturday, scoring four runs in the second inning to improve to 80-81. With Houston’s game underway, a Sunday win would keep Texas in the AL West race and ensure any playoff berth comes with an even record.
Texas hit four doubles in one inning for the first time since 2009. Nicky Lopez, Evan Carter, Alejandro Osuna and Brandon Nimmo each doubled in the four-run second, which accounted for four of Bailey Ober’s six earned runs and five of the 10 hits he allowed. Ober finished 2026 at 7-7 with a 4.47 ERA.
Texas starter Nathan Eovaldi left before completing five innings after throwing 71 pitches. Luke Keaschall doubled and scored in the first, then tripled in the eighth and came home on Josh Bell’s single. Minnesota fell to 76-85, tied with Detroit, and would finish alone in third with a win and a Tigers loss Sunday; Dean Kremer is scheduled to start the finale.
