The Houston Astros beat the Athletics 13-2 in the penultimate game of the 2026 MLB season, using five home runs to pull away. Oakland must win the finale to split the series and could also knock Houston out of the playoffs.
Isaac Paredes and Yordan Alvarez homered in the first five innings, Jeremy Peña hit two home runs, and Lucas Spence added a solo shot in the ninth. Jack Perkins allowed six runs on five hits, including three homers, over five innings; he struck out nine.
Oakland scored on Zack Gelof’s fourth-inning force out and Tommy White’s seventh-inning RBI single. The teams had not announced their starting pitchers for the season finale.
