Virginia C. Rios was arrested Sept. 16; warrants name Derrick M. Posey, Kimberly R. Jones, Katrinia Y. Wyche and Allissa N. Walls. All five face felony cases over an alleged jury-duty scam. Delafield police report at least 315 potential victims and estimate losses near $500,000.
In 2024, a Wisconsin man reported that a caller posing as a deputy said he had missed jury duty and had an arrest warrant. The caller directed him to pay through cryptocurrency machines; he sent $15,000 before discovering the deception and reporting the loss. Delafield police later linked the alleged operation to potential victims nationwide.
Court records show all five cases were filed Aug. 19. Rios and Posey each face conspiracy charges alleging money laundering involving proceeds of $10,000–$100,000. Rios also faces a theft-by-false-representation conspiracy charge involving that amount range; Posey is additionally charged with impersonating a peace officer to aid a crime. Jones, Wyche and Walls each face a money-laundering conspiracy charge involving the same alleged range. The charges are pending, and all five are presumed innocent unless proven guilty. KCRG reported Rios was expected to be extradited to Wisconsin.
