Leylah Fernandez beat Australia’s Talia Gibson 7-5, 6-0 to win the 2026 Singapore Open, her first title of the season and sixth of her career. It was her second WTA 500 title; her run also included a win over French Open champion Mirra Andreeva.
The result moved Fernandez up five places to No. 26 in the WTA live rankings. She is set to continue the Asian swing at the WTA 1000 China Open, which starts Sept. 30.
Among the China Open withdrawals are defending champion Amanda Anisimova, who has a wrist injury, Jessica Pegula, Sorana Cirstea and Marta Kostyuk; Alexandra Eala chose the Asian Games instead. Pegula’s injury type was not specified, and more high-ranked players could opt out before the Sept. 28 draw.
