FCS Week 4 featured several upsets: Cornell beat No. 17 Yale, North Carolina A&T topped No. 19 Rhode Island, and Northern Iowa edged No. 3 Illinois State 28-21. Montana routed No. 10 UC Davis 62-22, while No. 1 Montana State extended its streak to 19 wins.
Montana running back Eli Gillman set a program single-game rushing record with 275 yards and four touchdowns on 26 carries. Quarterback Keali'i Ah Yat threw for 241 yards and accounted for four touchdowns as Montana totaled 607 yards.
Yale was without quarterback Reno because of an elbow injury, and backup Chris Hewitt threw two interceptions as Cornell scored five rushing touchdowns. Rhode Island committed four turnovers and fell to 2-3 after a second straight loss; previously winless North Carolina A&T improved to 1-4.
