Videos bearing a New York Times logo falsely show Leonardo DiCaprio, Eric Braeden, Annie Potts and Patrick Fabian backing the “All Democrats Are Criminals” campaign. They combine Cameo and MTV News footage with fabricated audio and captions; the Times did not publish them.
The X post appeared on Sept. 18, 2026. Its caption said the celebrities were urging people to join the campaign and not vote for Democrats in November. Braeden’s publicist Charles Sherman told Lead Stories on Sept. 24 that the claim about his support was “Totally false.”
Lead Stories matched footage at the start of the Braeden, Potts and Fabian videos to clips from their Cameo accounts; the originals do not mention the campaign. The fact-check also found no matching report on the New York Times website.
