Galil Importing is voluntarily recalling Lior ground cinnamon after a Maryland Department of Health sample found elevated lead. The FDA says the 90-gram seasoning was distributed in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas and Illinois; no illnesses have been reported.
The recalled product comes in transparent 90-gram containers, lot GAP11304, UPC 794711005484. The alert lists distribution from November 18, 2025, through September 7, but does not specify the year for the latter date. The FDA says customers should not consume it; they can discard it or return it to the original place of purchase for a full refund.
The FDA says short-term exposure to low levels of lead may cause no symptoms and may be detectable only through blood tests. Symptoms are more likely after long exposure or acute exposure to higher levels; enough exposure in children over weeks to months may permanently damage the central nervous system.
