PEOPLE’s DreamQuil trailer shows Elizabeth Banks as a frustrated housewife in a dystopian future entering a digital wellness retreat. The logline says a robot sent to assist her family encroaches on her life and identity after she returns; it opens Sept. 25.
Sofia Boutella’s character describes the retreat technology as working with memories and neural pathways to reset a person’s approach to life. John C. Reilly’s character reacts enthusiastically to the robot filling in for Banks at home, while Juliette Lewis oversees the machine.
Directed by artist and photographer Alex Prager in her feature debut, the thriller was co-written with her sister, Vanessa Prager, and also stars Kathryn Newton. It premiered at the SXSW Film & TV Festival in March.
