After playing Dragon Shelter through its 14-day spring, a PC Gamer writer found its dragon-assisted cooking cute but the game small so far: play centered on a farm and tiny town, and villagers mostly provided quests. The writer had not yet seen whether other biomes open up.
The water dragon joins after smelling a berry pie and helps with recipe steps; it can also be assigned chores such as watering crops or chopping wood when equipped with tools. The writer found cooking easy to follow, but criticized awkward menus and unexplained mechanics. Without a map, remembering where to deliver quests was also difficult.
