The Dominican Republic is returning to League A after winning its promotion group with six victories from six almost two years ago. Nicaragua begins its first Nations League campaign under Juan Cruz Real, who took charge in April; his side has conceded four goals and scored none in two matches under him, against South Africa and Paraguay.
Both teams have gone four games without a win. The Dominican Republic drew three of those matches, while Nicaragua secured a result in only one. Junior Firpo returns to the Dominican squad; he has scored five goals in 15 appearances for the national team.
