De La Cruz completes 30-30 season in Reds’ 6-5 loss to Blue Jays

Elly De La Cruz stole his 30th base in Toronto, completing Cincinnati’s first 30-homer, 30-steal season since Brandon Phillips in 2007. He also became the first Red since Barry Larkin in 1996 to reach 30 doubles. The Reds’ bullpen surrendered a 5-2 lead in a 6-5 loss.

De La Cruz hit his 30th home run against Atlanta the previous night. He is the fourth Red to reach 30 homers and 30 steals in a season; the others are Phillips, Larkin and Eric Davis.
