Steph Curry signed a two-year, $116 million extension that keeps him with the Golden State Warriors through 2028-29. NBA radio host David Shepard said the team has not built the right supporting roster around him and fears that will remain true for the rest of Curry’s career.
Shepard said Curry deserved every dollar, describing him as arguably the league’s best scoring guard. He also said Jimmy Butler’s health was unreliable at the time and the roster had no other player around whom management could build. Brandin Podziemski and Kristaps Porziņģis will have crucial roles alongside Curry.
Curry has said he is not the type of player who switches teams. In a Thursday interview with CNBC Sport, he said he likes the challenge of reimagining what the Warriors need and added that the team keeps looking for ways to improve.
