Dallas beat Seattle 103-91 to finish 2026 at 27-17, a 17-win improvement on its 10-34 record in 2025 and the biggest year-to-year gain in WNBA history. The Wings secured seventh place and will reach the playoffs for the first time since 2023.
The previous record was a 16-win increase, reached three times and most recently by the 2022-23 New York Liberty. Dallas could face the Las Vegas Aces in the first round; the Aces could move ahead of the Valkyries if they win Thursday and the Valkyries lose. Dallas last reached the playoffs in 2023, when the Aces beat the Wings in the second round.
