Curry's two-year, $116 million Warriors extension is $20 million below max

Stephen Curry signed a two-year, $116 million extension with Golden State, taking $20 million less than the maximum. It keeps him under contract for three seasons; GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. called him the best face of a franchise in pro sports, on and off the court.

According to Keith Smith of Spotrac, Golden State could create $40 million to $50 million in cap space in summer 2027. Expiring contracts would account for some of that total.
