Stephen Curry agreed to a two-year, $116 million extension with Golden State, taking about $20 million less than the maximum. Yossi Gozlan projects the Warriors could have up to $64 million in 2027 cap space, potentially enough to pursue a max-level free agent.
The extension keeps Curry under contract through 2027-28 and includes a player option for 2028-29. Golden State could have offered him about $136.7 million over two years; the first year of his extension is worth $55.7 million. The maximum salary slot in 2027 is projected at about $61.6 million.
Curry said he wants a competitive team and more financial flexibility, which he said the Warriors had lacked in recent years. Reaching the projected cap space would require further roster decisions and could mean renouncing certain free-agent rights. Before the extension, Golden State had about $43 million in guaranteed salary for 2027-28, with several major contracts set to come off the books.
