MLB moved Sunday's Cubs-Red Sox finale from Fenway Park to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, as a major nor'easter is forecast to bring heavy rain, high winds and possible flooding to Boston. Sunday's game now starts at 3:05 p.m., instead of 7:15 p.m. EDT.
Both clubs had already secured postseason spots, so the finale has no playoff implications. They were set to leave Boston Friday after the Red Sox swept the Cubs in that day's doubleheader.
Forecasters warned the central East Coast could get up to a month's worth of rain. Cubs manager Craig Counsell said players would take the last-minute move in stride, telling MLB.com they would simply show up and play.
