Contineum-developed JNJ-5120/PIPE-307 missed the primary efficacy endpoint in a Phase 2 study of 107 adults with major depression. Contineum said the drug was well tolerated, with no new safety signals; J&J is reviewing data before deciding next steps.
MOONLIGHT-1 tested the drug as a monotherapy. Its primary measure was the change from baseline in the Montgomery–Åsberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS) total score on Day 5 compared with placebo.
The same compound failed to demonstrate a benefit on the primary efficacy measure in a 2025 study of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis. J&J advances PIPE-307 under the global agreement, while Contineum continues developing separate PIPE-791 programs, including for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and chronic pain.
