The White House barred CNN from joining President Trump’s Air Force One trip to Knoxville on Saturday, Sept. 26; LindellTV and Real America’s Voice were set to travel instead. The move followed a 14-day court order restoring White House access to CNN and two other outlets.
CNN reporter Alayna Treene said the network’s omission from the trip’s daily guidance meant it could not perform TV-pool duties, including providing footage to other networks. She said an outside lawyer for CNN, MS Now and Politico believed the restored access covered the White House pool, but what would happen next was unclear.
Trump had barred CNN, MS Now and Politico from the White House press pool. After other outlets spoke out and boycotted coverage, the three filed suit. U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly issued the temporary restraining order; the outlets were initially still kept from entering the White House, but were later allowed in.
