After breaking her wrist in 2025, 82-year-old Christine Tan could not lift 1kg or a cup of tea. She credits a 10-week resistance program at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital with helping her regain strength; living alone, she can now carry her shopping again.
Physiotherapist James Cameron created Lift for Life to help older adults improve strength and balance. After 10 weekly hospital sessions, participants are encouraged to continue exercising at home or in a local gym. Tan says she now takes gym classes about four times a week and tries to walk 10,000 steps daily.
