The Chiefs elevated linebacker Cole Christiansen and defensive end Tyreke Smith from the practice squad for Sunday's Week 3 game against Miami. Both will return to the practice squad after the game; Christiansen logged 18 special-teams snaps in Week 2.
Christiansen's elevation was expected because Kansas City has only four linebackers on its 53-man roster. He was also elevated for Week 2's overtime win over Indianapolis.
Smith has not appeared in a game for the Chiefs. The report said his path to playing against Miami appeared limited absent an injury: defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah practiced fully Thursday and Friday after being limited Wednesday with a sore quad, and had no injury status for Sunday. Kansas City did not elevate defensive tackle Marcus Harris, who was called up for the first two games; rookie nose tackle Bryson Eason appeared set to make his Chiefs debut after being claimed off waivers last month.
