Texas Tech linebacker Austin Romaine intercepted Sam Houston quarterbacks Brett Holloway and Landyn Locke on consecutive defensive plays, returning the picks 15 and 31 yards for touchdowns. The scores helped No. 11 Texas Tech build a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter.
Sam Houston later scored on a drive featuring a 32-yard completion from Locke to Kyan Berry-Johnson and a 52-yard pass to Tim Burns Jr. The drive included 25 yards in penalties.
Romaine, a senior transfer from Kansas State, had recorded one interception in his previous three college seasons, with that pick coming last year.
