Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve said pushback against trans youth is an attack on the wider community and called support a matter of “life and death.” Parents told her a “Trans Kids Belong” shirt she wore at an August Indiana Fever game helped their children feel they belonged.

Critics and political figures are pressing the WNBA to explicitly restrict eligibility to biological females. They are targeting the current collective bargaining agreement, which describes eligibility as applying to “players who are women.”
