Charlene Tilton says she lied about her water-skiing ability to win the role of Bambi in 1976’s “Freaky Friday,” though she had never seen water skis up close; on her second take with Jodie Foster, she managed to stay upright and ski.
In an interview with ReMIND Magazine 50 years after the film, Tilton said she claimed to have water-skiing trophies at her audition. She recalled Foster was given lessons because she was a big star, and that their first run ended with both falling; before the next attempt, Tilton prayed she would stay upright.
