Organizers announced Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will fight Dec. 11 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, after nearly a decade of failed talks. Netflix will stream the heavyweight bout; the start time has not been confirmed.
Joshua's contract required the bout to take place in the UK, and earlier efforts to stage it at New York's Madison Square Garden failed. After several UK stadiums were considered, the roofed Principality Stadium emerged as the preferred venue for a winter event.
Netflix preferred Friday over the traditional Saturday for major boxing events. The exact time is unconfirmed, but the main-event ring walks are expected in the early hours of Saturday in the UK to reach a primetime U.S. audience. Fury and Joshua are due at a launch press conference Sept. 30 at British Airways Arc in London.
