Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen hurt his shoulder while warming up in the bullpen during Saturday’s win over the San Francisco Giants. His season is likely over; manager Dave Roberts said imaging is planned and Treinen will go on the injured list.
Treinen had missed two and a half months with elbow inflammation before returning in September. In 36 games this season, he posted a 3.64 ERA, with 31 strikeouts and 13 walks in 29⅔ innings; since returning, he allowed three runs in 6⅔ innings.
The 38-year-old is in the final year of a two-year, $22 million Dodgers contract and will be a free agent after the season. Teammate Alex Vesia called the injury “gut-wrenching” and said Treinen is one of the bullpen’s leaders.
