BlackRock's recurring fees and dividend growth bolster a long-term stock case

Motley Fool

BlackRock managed $15.3 trillion in investor assets at June’s end and reported nearly $7.1 billion in second-quarter revenue, with almost $2 billion in net income. The Motley Fool argues its recurring fees and dividend growth support a long-term investment case.

Most of BlackRock’s revenue comes from management fees, collected quarterly regardless of clients’ investment gains or losses. The company recorded $868 billion in net cash inflows over the past 12 months; assets under management rose from $9.4 trillion three years earlier, partly helped by market gains.

BlackRock’s quarterly dividend is $5.73 per share, 39% above its level five years earlier and 150% above the payment a decade earlier. The company earned $12.19 per share in the second quarter, up nearly 20% year over year, and $26.25 per share year to date.
