Black Magic Social Club to relaunch as La Calavera on Halloween

Houston's Black Magic Social Club will close Sept. 30 and reopen as La Calavera on Halloween. Its owners say the event-driven business has become harder to sustain, and they want to shift toward serving Magnolia Park while keeping music.

The venue's final show before closing will feature Drunks with Guns, Rusted Shut, Pack Mentality and Grave City. The announcement gives no details on whether its occult decor will change; the club did not respond to Chron's questions about the closure and remodeling.
