TfL and Siemens Mobility have displayed a new Piccadilly line train at Berlin’s InnoTrans transport exhibition. The 94 trains are due to enter service between December 2026 and June 2027, replacing 86 existing trains, with 10% more capacity.
Each new train will be 113 metres long and have nine carriages, with air-conditioning, onboard CCTV and walk-through carriages. TfL says the trains will be more accessible and use 20% less energy.
TfL says the upgrade will make the Piccadilly line faster and more reliable. The line accounts for 10% of all Tube journeys in London.
